Photos of Photos or Paintings:
- Someone looking at the photo or painting, or similar
- A straight copy
Children make great photos.
But, images of children, where the children are identifiable, will not be added to the photo album. Even if you have asked for permission.
This is done to protect the children. Our album is available to all internet users, and we don’t know how the images will be used.
And for your own safety, we suggest that you don’t point your camera at children. Especially if you are male. You don’t know how a parent or grandparent will react.
Images of children on billboards will be allowed.
Titles:
If you want your image to have a title, put the title into the filename.
If you want special characters (eg: ! ? #) in the title, repeat the title in the email with the special character(s).
If you use a Mac and you attach the images to the email, you will need to type the titles in the email. The images end up being embedded in the email and we can’t see the filenames.
If you use a Mac, the preferred way is that you put your images into a folder and then attach the folder to the email. The folder is attached as a zip file and we can see the filenames.
eg:

Spring has Sprung.jpg (In the email add: Spring has Sprung!)
This submission policy is a work-in-progress.

Mid-Week Outing : Tuesday, 21 October
This month we are planning to go what were called the Rhododendron Gardens in Olinda. This is the ideal time of the year to see the rhododendrons in full bloom. There is now also an added attraction: the Chelsea Australian Garden. This garden by the landscape designer Phillip Johnson won the first prize ten or so years ago at the Chelsea Garden Show in London. Johnson has now recreated the winning garden here in Olinda. So, what was the Rhododendron Garden is now called the Dandenong Ranges Botanic Garden.
Location: The Dandenong Ranges Botanic Garden is just off the Olinda-Monbulk Road, close to its T-junction with the Mt. Dandenong Tourist Road (Melway 66 J7). Watch for the sign: ‘Olinda Community Recreation Centre. Turn off near there, and a short distance in, you will see the entrance.
Car parking: There are three car parks around the entrance. At that time of the day, you should be able to find a spot.
Meeting place: Garden Café at 10.30am. Walk through the shop/nursery to get to the Garden Café.
Lunch: This will be at 12.30pm at Dudley’s Restaurant. This is on the Olinda-Monbulk Road at the T-junction. There is some parallel parking along the road. Also, there is an off-street car park opposite Dudley’s, behind the ‘Pie in the Sky’ café.
For further information about this outing or the Mid-Week Outings Group please contact Jim at midweekgroup@melbournecameraclub.org.au
Hope to see many of our Camberwell Club colleagues, as well as our Melbourne CC friends there.

Tue 17th June 2025 (3rd Tue) – Boroondara Cemetery, Kew
Note: This is not a guided tour. You can leave the outing at any stage without notifying the organisers.
Tue 3rd Jun 2025 (1st Tue) – Princes & Station Piers, Port Melbourne
For our outing on Tuesday 3rd June, we are heading down to Port Melbourne to visit Station & Princes Piers.
Station Pier opened in 1854 and has been Melbourne’s primary passenger terminal. The current pier was built between 1922 and 1930 and is the largest timber piled wharf structure in Australia. Station Pier is currently closed to the public.
However close by Princes Pier is accessible and offers a number of photo opportunities. Princes Pier was constructed between 1912 and 1915 by the Melbourne Harbour Trust to supplement the adjacent Station Pier. Originally called Railway Pier, in 1920 following the visit of the Prince of Wales (later Edward VIII) it was renamed. It was a major arrival point for new migrants, particularly during the post-war period. In the 1990’s following the boom in the use of containers for cargo, the pier became unused and was closed to the public. Refurbishment started in 2006, the first 196 metres of the pier fully restored, and beyond that point the decking was removed and the original pylons preserved.
We will meet for coffee/tea at 10.30am at Mr Hobson Café & Bar, 9 Waterfront Place, Port Melbourne only a short distance towards Station Pier, from the Beacon Cove tram stop (the end of the line).
We will return to Mr Hobson for lunch at 12.30 pm.
How to get there?
The preferred option is by tram – route 109 from Box Hill to Port Melbourne. The tram runs along Collins Street before turning left into Spencer Street and then off to Port Melbourne.
If you wish to bring your car, there is limited parking in Beach Street.

Tue 18th March 2025 (3rd Tue) – Richmond Hill Walk
Mid-Week Excursion: Tuesday, 18th March
Richmond Hill is a neighbourhood that most people don’t really know.
Our 2nd outing for March will seek to discover its particular visual characteristics.
It lends itself particularly to choosing a photographic theme whilst walking its streets and back lanes.
Some themes are: quirky little old houses, garage doors in back lanes, ultra-sleek modern houses, imaginatively created small green spaces, styles of windows and old weather board textures. These are just some ideas that come to mind.
Meeting place and time: We plan to meet at 10.30am for coffee at the Black Gold Café, 285 Lennox St. (cnr. Gipps St.).
After walking around the neighbourhood, we will meet for lunch at 12.30 in the Richmond Club Hotel, 100 Swan St, on the south side of Swan St, immediately next to the railway overpass.
Transport options: By train to Richmond station (exit station on the north side, turn right). By tram no. 70 from Flinders St. Station. Exit tram on Swan St. straight the railway overpass. If you come by car, remember that there are parking restrictions in many of the neighbourhood streets.
Hope to see many of our Camberwell CC people, and of course our Melbourne CC friends as well.

Tue 1st July (1st Tue): Aus Jazz Museum & Performance – MCC
For our outing on Tuesday 1st July, we are returning to the Australian Jazz Museum in Wantirna. When we last attended three or four years ago it was a real fun outing, and it looks like been the same again this time, with plenty of photo opportunities.
The AJM is located at 15 Mountain Highway, Wantirna. Sorry, there is no public transport so if you don’t have a car, please try to link up with someone who does.
The cost for the outing will be no more than $20 a head.
We will meet at 10.15 a.m. at the Museum. It is run by volunteers and is only open on Tuesdays. Officially it opens at 10 am (sometimes a little slow starting) so 10.15 is a good time to arrive, no point being early.
When we arrive, the Museum will provided coffee/tea, we will then have a tour of the museum to be followed by a 45 min jazz performance. This provides a unique opportunity to photograph the musician, as well has enjoying great jazz music. And yes, the musicians know this is a camera club outing and understand that our cameras will be busy for the duration of the performance. It is hoped we will send the Museum some of our better images after the visit.
Lunch will be at the Wantirna Hill Club, 715 Boronia Road, Wantirna, a 4-minute drive from the Museum. We have chosen this venue as it offers plenty of parking and has a menu that meets all dietary requirements.
Hope we have a big turnout for what will be a fun outing, with plenty of toe tapping and photo opportunities.
All Melbourne and Camberwell Camera Club members, and friends are very welcome.
Note: This is not a guided tour. You can leave the outing at any stage without notifying the organisers.

Mid-Week Outing – Tuesday 7th October, 2025
Archibald Prize – Geelong Gallery
For our outing on the first Tuesday in October, (7th), we will be heading down to Geelong for the Archibald Prize, Australia’s premier portrait painting prize.
How to get there – the easiest way to get to Geelong is by rail. Trains leave Southern Cross Station every 20 minutes. The 9.30 am train appears the most suitable – we will meet on the platform at 9.15 am. Leave plenty of time to find the right platform. As 7th October is in Seniors Week, if you show your MYKI seniors card, the trip is free. For those who do not have a MYKI Seniors you will need to purchase a ticket.
When we arrive at the Geelong Railway Station (the trip takes approx. one hour) we will have a tea/coffee at Tutti Café which is in the Geelong Arts Centre, 50 Little Malop Street, this is a 300 metre walk from the station through Johnstone Park. The Arts Centre is across the road from our destination, the Geelong Gallery, 55 Little Malop Street. Anyone planning on making their own way to Geelong can join us at either the café or gallery.
We will go back to the Tutti for a light lunch before returning to Melbourne. Again, trains run every 20 minutes – so possible turn trips are 1.15 pm or every 20 mins thereafter.
The Archibald is a ticketed event – tickets prices are Adults $24, Concession $20. Tickets can be purchased on gallery website (recommended by the gallery), however limited tickets are available on the day, at the Gallery.
The train arrives at Geelong a little after 10.30am, it’s only a short walk to the Tutti Cafe, and the Gallery is across the road, so either the 11.00 am or 11.20 am session look good.
All Melbourne and Camberwell Camera Club members, and friends are very welcome.
For further information about this outing or the Mid-Week Outings Group please contact Jim W at midweekgroup@melbournecameraclub.org.au
