This week is a busy second to last week of the MCC calendar – on Monday, the final APG Group meeting will be the usual show and tell, new projects and cameras of interest. BYO drinks and nibbles while wrap up the year and plan for the year ahead.
Thursday night 30 November, is the opening of the End of Year Exhibition which continues next weekend, 2-3 December.
The Lighting Group will be photographing food at Mr Margarita Pizza Cafe, South Melbourne on Saturday (2 December) at 10am, to photography the food we want to eat for morning tea along with exploring lighting subjects. Further details below.
Please join us at the Clubrooms for this Thursday’s event – the Opening of the End of Year Exhibition (prints) and the slideshow of all images entered in the End of Year PDI and Print Competitions. The slideshow will be on Zoom from 8pm if you are unable to attend in person. The images have already been judged, there will be no critique/comments during the presentation. The winners will be announced at the End of Year Awards next Thursday 7 December.
The End of Year Awards and Social will be held next week on Thursday 7 December, starting at 8pm.
Award presentations will be followed by our End of Year Social event.
There will be no Zoom for this event.
The Social is a self-catering event, so we ask you to please bring a plate and/or drinks.

Interclub Portrait Competition 2023
Following on from last week’s article regarding the Interclub Portrait Competition, the complete results are now published on the MCC website, link here.
MCC did well, taking out Overall and Runner Up for the competition, Paul Dodd for his image “My Diabolical Self” and Matt Smith for his image “Guitarist” which were the Winner and Runner-up respectively. Alison Crea was the runner up in the Two or more people category and Matt Smith the winner in the Single Person category. Well done to all MCC entrants.

The Queenie Gatt Trophy is a perpetual trophy that was awarded by Charles Gatt in memory of his late mother Queenie Gatt. As announced at the time, the Board was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Charles Gatt in a car accident in 2021.
Nominations are now open for the Queenie Gatt Award for 2023, in special memory of Charles Gatt. The award is to honour MCC Members for their non-photographic work in support of the Club.
If you would like to nominate any Member for this award, please email President Mark Devaraj with details including reasons why you think that person should be honoured.
SAVE THE DATE: there will be a Gallery Exhibition during the weekend of 2-3 December of the EOY Prints, with opening night on Thursday 30 November, which will include a slideshow of the PDI entries.
If you are available to man the exhibition over the weekend, please contact the Competition Committee Chair, Ruth Woodrow at firstname.lastname@example.org. Sessions are from 10am-1pm or 1pm-4pm.
The Awards night will be held on Thursday 7 December. Awards are made for the best work in every section and there are awards for the most successful monthly competition entrant, including Photographer of the Year for both A and B Grade. Following the formal award presentations there will be a social event and time to view at the EOY images in the gallery, all members and family are welcome.

For the last lighting group meeting of 2023 we will meet at Mr Margarita Pizza Cafe, 52 Park St, South Melbourne at 10am 2nd December 2023, where we will have a whole section of the cafe to ourselves to photograph the food we want to eat for morning tea along with exploring lighting our subjects.
