Analogue Photography Group Guest Speaker: Monday 25 August 7.30pm
The guest speaker at tomorrow night’s APG meeting will be Eddie Jim. Inspired by Annie Leibovitz‘s book, ‘Olympic Portraits’ published in 1996, capturing athletes from the American team for the Atlanta 1996 Olympics, Eddie Jim captured Australian athletes for the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics. All photographs were shot using an 8×10 large format camera with black-and-white film.
Eddie Jim, born and raised in Hong Kong, started working as a photographer at The Standard and South China Morning Post in 1986 after studying photography. He then became a photo editor for the Apple Daily in 1995 before migrating to Melbourne, Australia in 1997. He has been working for The Age newspaper since then.
His project, ‘Fighting, Not Sinking’ was awarded the 2024 World Press Photo Contest winner. This is a session not to be missed. It’s rare that a major Australian newspaper will publish a series shot on 8×10 film.
