G’Day MCC

The year has gotten underway with a vengeance. Things are happening. The world, at least in Australia, is getting back to normal.

As we said last issue, the newsletter format is a bit different. We have placed the Whats On links at the start and then the MCC news items followed by external items. Eventually, most major reporting will be on the Web page and the newsletter will link to the appropriate URL.

What’s On This Week

Monday 1 February 7:00

So, at last, Portrait Group returns to the MCC studio for an actual real life shoot! Sam is sorting out the models and we will be back into the swing of things on Monday.

Time: Come at 7:00pm to help with set up, start shooting at 8:00pm

Tuesday 2nd February 10:30

No mid week outing this week

Unfortunately, the planned mid week outing the the Monash Gallery Of Art next Tuesday and announced at the MCC meeting on 28 January, has been CANCELLED.

The gallery is currently not open on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday and will not fully reopen for another two weeks.

Please pass this information to anyone who may be interested.

MCC International Women’s Day Photography Exhibition 2021

Calling all Women Photographers!

The Grace Lock discussion group are organising the Melbourne Camera Club’s International Women’s day exhibition celebrating women in photography. All women members and female partners of members are invited to submit and exhibit in MCC’s fourth consecutive International Women’s Day Exhibition of Photography.

Australian Photography Photographer of the Year Awards

Congratulations to those MCC members that entered and were awarded in the Australian Photography Photographer of the Year Awards announced last Thursday. Special congratulations to Nicole Andrews for winning the Landscape Portfolio category with her “Dunes” series and to Ruth Woodrow as Runner-up in the Creative category with her “Melbourne in Isolation” image. Competition Committee news

Print and PDI Monthly Competitions resume in February now that we can have face to face club meetings. The set-subject for February is “Patterns in Nature. For 2021 there will be some changes to the Print Competition beginning on Thursday February 11.
