What is Still Life?

The objects can be natural or man made, and can include anything from food and flowers to books and bottles. Still life photography is a genre of photography that captures inanimate objects, usually arranged in a creative or artistic way.

 

Learn the art of creating & capturing beautiful still life images. Julie will show you how slowing down will enable you too  create beautifully simple still life images, with a combination of constant controlled studio lights as well as soft natural light and creatively placing and staging objects to create a myriad of beautiful serene art. 

 

The Danes have a term, Hygge (pronounced Hoo-gah), this one single word encompasses a feeling of cosy contentment and well-being through enjoying the simple things in life. Julie will take you on a journey that will look at creating and capturing beautiful and captivating still life with Soft and dreamy light, minimal colour palettes and rich earthy tones. Learn to harness your light and encompass the Hygge aesthetic in your photography. Simple. Beautiful. 

 

Whether an absolute beginner or more advanced photographer, Julie will show you that with the right support and guidance, the required skills and knowledge can be gained that will enable you too create still life images like you see in the great galleries by the masters by building your confidence and your skills to take your photographic achievements to the next level.  Multiple workstations, objects and lighting to get your creativeness flowing and give you skills to take back to your own studio. 



 

ABOUT JULIE POWELL

Julie Powell spent years studying the Masters, lighting, staging and styling, pouring over so many beautiful images online and in magazines. Eventually it all started to come together. People started asking her to show them how she created her beautiful photos so she started running small classes and workshops out of her home studio. These quickly lead into larger classes offering more and varied subjects. Julie has won many awards and she is highly sort after as an educator and trainer.

Whether an absolute beginner or more advanced photographer, Julie will show you that with the right support and guidance, the required skills and knowledge can be gained that will enable you too create images like you see online and in magazines by building your confidence and your skills to take your photographic achievements to the next level.

This workshop is open to all MCC members and will be held at the MCC club-rooms. Both workshops will be identical with 16 participants each, hence register for 1 workshop only.
