Kay Gibbons is our very special guest this Thursday.
Her work has been published in the digital version of the Swiss-based international magazine, Frames, as well as various presentations and podcasts for Frames magazine.
She finished Top 10 in both 2023 and 2024 for Australian Photography Magazine’s Photographer of the Year (Travel and Portrait) as well as being published several times in their monthly competitions over the years.
Her background is varied, having been a professional singer/songwriter for much of her life. She is also a writer, an artist, meditation facilitator and wellbeing advocate, as well being interested in metaphysics, colour psychology, and the balance and flow of spaces.
Much of her photography (as well as her creative works across all mediums) centres around the exploration of mental health and mindfulness, with common themes celebrating hope, play, love, gratitude, and joy. Genres have included portraiture, street, architecture, urban details, and landscape to name a few.
She does not like to limit herself to one particular style, however, preferring to wait for inspiration to show up unannounced. She champions happenstance, but equally loves to create with a model via the exploration of emotions through play.
“In a very focused way (pun intended) I’ve learnt so much about living in the moment, being in awe of the tiniest details, slowing down, and falling in love with the world over and over again through the lens of my camera. Photography sharpens my gratitude, keeps me mindful, and reminds me to add happiness to the world, not subtract from it. If people consider my images to be without meaning, then they have overlooked mankind’s need to feel peace and joy.”
Don’t miss this very special presentation
