Introduction to Photography Course FAQ
1. Do I need to bring my camera to the first session?
You won’t need it, but it is probably a good idea to have it – several camera controls are discussed in the first session, and it is useful to find those controls on your particular camera.
2. Do I need a Digital SLR (DSLR) or mirrorless camera?
The aim of the course is to teach you how to use the controls on your camera to make better photos. Typically, you need a DSLR or mirrorless camera to have access to those controls.
A high end compact camera may be suitable, provided you can manually control:
- Aperture
- Shutter speed
- ISO sensitivity
- Focal length
- Focus point
Film cameras are not really suitable for this course as they do not provide the instant feedback of viewing an image on the LCD of a digital camera.
3. Do Existing MCC members get a discount on the course fee?
Unfortunately the Stripe payment mechanism does not allow us to adjust the course fees at the time of registration. However, current financial MCC members who do the course will receive an extension of their membership subscription by 12 months from the current expiry date on payment of their ordinary or concession course fees.
