Craig “Watto” Watson is a Melbourne-trained photographer whose career spans newspaper, motorsport and fine art photography. After studying at RMIT in the 1980s, he worked with Leader Newspapers and the Herald & Weekly Timesbefore becoming an award-winning photographer with The Weekly Times, capturing life across rural Australia.

Since the mid-1990s, Watto has built a successful freelance career specialising in classic cars, motorsport and major events, with work published internationally and roles at events including the Sydney Olympic and Paralympic Games. He later founded Focal Point Darkroom and Gallery in Geelong, creating a hub for photographers and exhibitions.

Now based in Geelong’s arts precinct, Watto focuses on photo restoration, printing and training, while returning to his creative roots with new exhibition work, including distinctive multiple-exposure photography.
