For our July Photowalk we’re meeting up with the MCC Grace Lock Group to make the most of a new moon for some Astro and Nightscape photography. We will be heading out west to Little River, a small town 50km from Melbourne between Werribee and Geelong. As we’re a bit of a social group, we’ll catch up for a meal before heading out into the (hopefully) clear and crisp night air. The evening will include a workshop in the pub before we head out, this will be all about the settings, equipment, tools and techniques to get you started for Astro photography.

What to bring:
– Camera capable of shooting at high ISO: 1600 to 3200
– Wide angle lens (10mm up to 50mm with large aperture F2.8 or F4)
– Tripod, cable/remote trigger release (or use self-timer in camera)
– Spare battery as cold and long exposures can drain batteries quickly
– A red light – torch or headlamp
– Warm clothing
