Nature Group Meeting
September 10, 2019 @ 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM
Paul Dodd and Ruth Woodrow have been seriously birdwatching for well over twenty years, and have rarely done so without camera in hand. They jointly hold the record for the most number of bird species seen in Victoria in a calendar year – 392, set in 2010, beating the previous record by almost 50 species. They also hold the unofficial record of having seen all the Tasmanian endemics in the shortest amount of time – 3 hours from picking up their rental car in Hobart! Paul has always been fascinated by the sea and from when he and Ruth took their first pelagic trip in 2005 has been completely hooked. After a few years as a participant, Paul took up the challenge of organising the sea birding trips from Portland in far western Victoria. Ruth is somewhat more circumspect and is perhaps a little less addicted to traveling 60km from shore to the edge of the continental shelf in charter fishing boats that are both cold and wet on even the best days at sea! Together they will present some of their best images and discuss the hows and whys of seabird photography.
