Do you, like so many, have a filter kit floating around in your camera bag that you don’t use because you don’t know why or how?
Or have you always wanted to know how filters can enhance your photography before you purchase a set?
This hands-on workshop, led by expert photographer and MCC Member Greg Thomas, is designed to guide participants through the essential aspects of using photography filters to enhance their images creatively.
Greg has arranged multiple sets of Haida Filter System’s generously supplied by Maxxum Pty Ltd for the use of participants in this workshop and offering a very generous MCC members only discount on any of their kits.
This workshop will take place in the beautifully restored Gatehouse on Princes Pier Port Melbourne for theory, then out onto the pier to put your knowledge into practice.
The workshop will cover the fundamental concepts of purchasing, selecting, and using various photography filters. Greg Thomas will provide valuable insights on how filters can be used to creatively alter the light, colour, and mood of photographs, enabling participants to elevate their work.
- Initially: Learn how to choose the right filters for your camera and photography style, including ND filters, polarizers, and colour correction filters.
- Practical Use: Explore hands-on techniques for using filters in real-world shooting scenarios, focusing on proper application and filter combinations.
- Photographic Outcomes: Understand the impact of filters on image quality, with a focus on how they can transform compositions, enhance details, and create unique visual effects.
- The workshop will equip attendees with the knowledge to make informed filter purchases.
- Participants will gain practical experience using filters in various settings, including landscape, portrait, and creative photography.
- Attendees will leave with the skills to incorporate filters into their workflows, enhancing their photos with precision and creativity.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have a solid understanding of the role filters play in photography and be able to use them to achieve striking, professional-quality results.
Location- The Gate House Building 2 Pier St Port Melbourne TBA then onto the pier for practical session.
Cost – $20.50 inc. per person, refreshment supplied.
