An overview of the world of photos looking at where we have come from and where we are going from the perspective of a photo manager.

In March 2020, Carly Michael founded PhotoGenie. Carly  was the fifth generation family member to manage michaels camera video & digital, the 100-year-old iconic camera store in Melbourne’s CBD. Over almost 18 years she worked in and managed the photo lab of the family business which specialised in digitising, restoring & preserving family photos.

Carly had always been concerned that when providing archiving services her lab was simply transferring the physical mess into a digital mess. In 2017 she discovered that Photo Management was an emerging industry providing a system to organise photos and finally providing a solution for this problem.
