Presentation: Fine Art Architecture Photography

Steve Day is a Melbourne based self-taught fine art photographer who is recognised for his striking
black and white architectural photography.

Recently, Steve was awarded Australian Photography Magazine Black and White Photographer of the
Year 2022. The judging panel described him as demonstrating a wonderful understanding of shape,
form and texture, along with a keen eye for concealing and revealing details.

Steve expertly applies tone and shade to illustrate the buildings in the right places to create maximum
impact and alleviate any distractions. He also uses long exposure techniques to conceive his vision of
moody and minimalist images that emphasise the form and structure whilst highlighting the features of
architecture and cityscapes. His images depict isolation and a sense of solitude and perhaps suggest a
yearning for the inner self to be alone and at peace.

Steve’s photography has gained numerous major international awards that include the MonoVisions
Photography Awards, ND Awards, Prix de la Photographie Paris, Visions International Photo Awards,
and the Centre for Contemporary Photography Salon Melbourne.

Steve’s work has been published in the B&W Minimalism Magazine, Chiiz Magazine, Long Exposure
Magazine, and Eye Photo Magazine. Furthermore, his work has been exhibited in Melbourne,
Hyderabad, New York, Athens, and Paris.

Steve is also represented by influx Gallery Notting Hill, UK, Artoui in Munich Germany and bluethumb.
