Each Vigex exhibition is conducted with approval from the Australian Photographic Society Inc., the Fédération Internationale de l’Art Photographique (the International Federation of Photographic Art) and the Photographic Society of America, in line with the requirements of these organisations.It is also supported by the Victorian Association of Photographic Societies (VAPS).VIGEX has been running successfully since its inception in 1980. The Victorian Government was the first sponsor, soon followed by the first major private sponsor, being Alcoa of Australia Limited. Many other local and national Australian sponsors have contributed over the years, including local municipal councils.
