Lights, Camera… Collaboration! Join Us This Thursday at MCC
This Thursday evening, we’re excited to present a special collaborative event at the Melbourne Camera Club, celebrating the art and craft of studio and lighting photography.
We’re proud to welcome Greg Thomas, leader of the MCC Lighting Photography Group, who will kick off the evening in the club gallery. Greg will guide us through the MCC studio facilities, showcasing the lighting gear and equipment that’s available to all members. Whether you’re new to studio photography or a seasoned shooter, this is a great chance to get familiar with the tools that can transform your work.
As every photographer knows, light is everything—whether you chase it, control it, or let it find you, mastering light is the key to creating compelling images.
Following Greg’s session, we’ll move into the studio with Andrew Greig, one of MCC’s most awarded portrait photographers. Andrew’s award-winning studio portraits have earned widespread recognition from both judges and peers, and now he’s generously sharing his expertise with us.
Andrew will demonstrate how to create professional-quality portraits using a combination of accessible and affordable lighting options—from strobes and speedlights to modelling lights. With a live model, he’ll show how to plan your lighting, visualize your shot, and achieve impressive results—even in a home setup.
This promises to be a massive member collaboration—lights, cameras, action, and learning! Don’t miss this hands-on opportunity to improve your lighting skills and be inspired by two of the club’s outstanding contributors.
The urn will be hot, the heaters will be on full and the Tim Tams over flowing.
There will also be seating in both areas.
All members are welcome—come along and show your support!
