We are in the process of preparing the documentation for the August Introduction to Photography Course. As this course has been established over many years and widely attended, the aim is to ensure that all materials are accurate and well-organised.

To achieve this, I am seeking a volunteer to assist with update of the course documents for this year’s course. The documents are mainly in Microsoft Word. Tasks may include:

• Updating course handouts (Word documents) with next course dates
• Reviewing documentation for grammatical errors
• Ensuring consistency in formatting and terminology – including working with headers and footers, managing tables, using styles and formatting and inserting images.
• Final documents to be then saved as PDF ready for external printing
• Time required would be 4-6 hours and need to be completed by mid-July.

If you have advanced expertise with Microsoft Word and have the current version on your computer, some editing skills pertaining to photography terminology and an interest in contributing, your support would be greatly appreciated.

Please let me know as soon as possible if you’re available to assist.

Congratulations to the following MCC Members for their Merit wards in the VAPS Interclub competition which was on display at the annual convention in Castlemaine earlier this month.

In addition, Frances Egan’s image ‘The Hunter’ has been selected to represent Victoria in the APS Interstate Photography Competition (AIPC).

We’re excited to announce that MCC will once again be participating in Open House Melbourne, with our building open to the public during the OHM weekend in late July.

This year’s photography exhibition will align with the official Open House Melbourne theme:

• ‘Stories of the City’ – illuminate and explore the layers of urban life through stories of architecture, culture and community.

This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your work to a broader audience and be part of a city-wide celebration of Melbourne’s built environment and urban stories.

Get Involved – there are many ways to approach this theme:

• Team up with fellow members to photograph a particular building, street or neighbourhood

• Tell a story through a series of 2–3 prints or a triptych

Auto-Photo A Life in Portraits is a Centre for Contemporary Photography (CCP) exhibition, presented in partnership with RMIT Culture. 

Auto Photo: A Life in Portraits is a distinctly Australian story, centred on the figure of Alan Adler. Adler, while little known, is likely the most photographed man in Australia and is also the oldest and longest serving photobooth technician in the world. For over 50 years, Adler has been maintaining a suite of photobooths across Melbourne/Narrm, most notably, the site near Flinders Street Station. His story reflects the local communities and a shared dedication and passion for image-making and creative expression.
