July Outing: Woodlands Historic Park
Join us this July as we explore Woodlands Historic Park, a beautiful winter woodland just outside Melbourne. The open grassy plains and red gum bushland are home to eastern grey kangaroos and occasional echidnas, as well as a variety of birdlife including red-rumped parrots, eastern rosellas, yellow-rumped thornbills, whistling kites, and the striking scarlet and flame robins, often seen during the cooler months.
While insect activity is low in winter, macro photographers may still find subjects such as dormant insects, mosses, lichens, and tiny fungi. Seasonal fungi like Mycenas, earth stars, puffballs, and bracket fungi can often be spotted along fallen logs and shaded areas
Please remember to bring a chair for lunch and paths may be uneven in places, so sturdy footwear such as sneakers or hiking shoes is recommended. More information will be given in the Nature Group Newsletter on meeting. Please ensure you are signed up to the mailout which will be out shortly.
A rewarding location for those seeking the quiet beauty of nature in winter.
