Eight people braved the cold for Sunday’s Nature Outing to the Dandenongs and were rewarded with some fungi and colourful and very friendly parrots. The forecast rain stopped on arrival.

Join us for this month’s outing, together with the Photowalk Group – we will be visiting Melbourne Zoo on Sunday 18 August.

Stanislaus Putra was drawn as the lucky voter and won a copy of MCC’s Shot in the City of Port Phillip Photography Book.

The Exhibition Committee extends a very big thank you to the exhibitors for creating such a wonderful collection of creative images to showcase to our visitors over the last two weekends.

The Board is delighted to welcome Lesley Bretherton to the MCC Board as an Alternate Director, appointed by the Board until the next AGM in early October.

Many of you may already know Lesley for her role as Chair of the Competition Committee and her commitment to MCC over many years as a Board Director and Committee Chair.

Thank you to the members who submitted entries for the Australian Cup for Clubs. MCC was placed 27th in the competition.

We would like to experiment with members who would like to share their printed images and talk to them informally over coffee on a Thursday night. This will take place after any Guest Speaker or Print Competition evening.

This is all voluntary and it will be an open topic.

Any members are welcome to bring printed image/s (any size) for general discussion and feedback from those who are interested.

The Museum of Australian Photography’s MAPh LOOK! Prize 2024 for members of MAPh is now open for entries.

LOOK! is an exclusive annual photographic award and exhibition that celebrates work produced by MAPh Members.

Entries will close on Sunday 4 August.

MAPH Members are invited to submit up to 3 works for judging as part of the prize and exhibition.

Key dates:

• Entries open: 1 July 2024 – 4 August
• Deliver photographs: 9 – 22 September   
• Awards night:  8 October
• Exhibition dates: 4 October – 2 December
