Showcase Your Creative Photography Skills at the ‘One Light Stand’ Exhibition

We are thrilled to announce the upcoming ‘One Light Stand’ Exhibition, a unique opportunity for our talented photographers to showcase their creative prowess. This exhibition, part of the annual Open House Melbourne event, invites you to explore the artistic potential of using a single artificial light source to create stunning images.

Images MUST be created with only one light source that is not NATURAL LIGHT, STROBES or FLASH.

The ‘One Light Stand’ Exhibition challenges you to think outside the box and produce captivating photographs with the use of only one light source. This is an exceptional chance to engage with the Melbourne community and share your unique vision and creativity.

Why Participate?

Participating in the ‘One Light Stand’ Exhibition not only allows you to showcase your work but also encourages you to experiment with lighting techniques, honing your skills in a focused and innovative way. By limiting the light source, you will learn to manipulate shadows, highlights, and contrasts, resulting in powerful and evocative images.

The Mosman Photography Awards are now open 
and entries will close at midnight on Sunday 30th June 2024.

Judging will be completed by the end of July
with shortlisted entries announced early August.

An Awards Event will be held on the evening of
Thursday 26th September, in Archie Bear at Mosman Rowers Club, Sydney.

The Quadrant Gallery will be running an exhibition of historical photographs by the late Richard Tandler taken in Austria from the 1920’s until his family departed Austria in November 1938. It will include photographs taken on a 3D camera with the images produced on stereoscopic large format glass slides.

Exhibition dates: 5 – 28 June

The Wolfhound Gallery is running an exhibition of contemporary Australian Street Photographers, with some MCC members exhibiting images.

Exhibition dates: 31 May – 9 June

Calling artists who work with photography! The Museum of Australian Photography (MAPh) welcomes submissions from artists at all stages of their career to enter one the richest photography prizes in Australia.

The winning work will receive $30 000 and be acquired into MAPh’s significant collection; the $10 000 Wai Tang Commissioning Award includes an exhibition in the next Bowness Photography Prize season; the Camera House People’s Choice Award is valued at $5000 (50-50 cash and in-kind).

Entries close 13 June 2024.

VAPS CONVENTION & EXHIBITION 2024

The VAPS Convention will take place next weekend 14-16 June 2024 at Federation University Australia in Berwick. Registrations are now closed. Program information is on the VAPS website.
