Weekly MCC News #03 – 12-February-2023

There will be a short informal meeting after this Thursday’s Club meeting (16 Feb, around 9.30pm) to meet and greet other MCC members who are interested in Drone Photography. The meeting will be held downstairs in the Studio, 30 mins maximum.

The APJA (Australian Photographic Judges Association)  has again scheduled a number of courses and  presenters for the year – all which will be held online on Friday evenings commencing @ 7.30pm.  

2023 Judges Training

• Image Evaluation Workshop: 10+17 March (via Zoom)
• 4-hour workshop over 2 nights and is all about you the photographer and potential judge, designed to teach you how to evaluate images
• These sessions are a great means to improve your photography and artistic awareness.

Information for our newer members: MCC is an affiliated member of VAPS: the Victorian Association of Photographic Societies Inc (VAPS), an organisation comprising about 70 photography clubs and 3400 members throughout metropolitan and country Victoria.

VAPS hosts a yearly convention which provides camera club members throughout Victoria the opportunity to hear professional photographers speak on a wide range of topics and to also attend outings and workshops to advance their photography skills. In addition an annual VAPS Interclub competition is held each year. 

The 2023 Annual Convention in Colac will be held on 16-18 June 2023. All members are welcome to attend.

MCC is celebrating 2023 International Women’s Day by curating our fifth exhibition of photography from female photographers, to be on display 2–19 March in our clubrooms.

We are excited about the opportunity to bring together women in photography and explore our theme ‘The Female Gaze’. We encourage and invite all women photographers from the Club to exhibit your images alongside photographers from outside the club. If you are unsure about printing or matting your images, please get in touch and we can help.

• REGISTER HERE – you are invited to register your interest now to secure a place in the exhibition, and update your print titles closer to the closing date.
• Print drop off: Thursday 23 February between 6pm-8pm (or by prior arrangement with the Exhibition Coordinators)

VAPS CONVENTION & EXHIBITION 2023: COLAC

The VAPS Committee is pleased to announce next year’s annual convention will be held 16-18 June 2023 in Colac. Program and registrations will be announced at the end of February on the VAPS website.
