Competition Committee – Entries

It is good to see quality prints back on the walls for our first two competitions but numbers of entries in both print and PDI are down so we would like to see more entries especially from our new members. Obviously, photographic opportunity was limited last year but remember there is no time limit on images so take a look at some of your previous images; with more editing experience and the developments in computer software, older images can be reprocessed with great results! Improving your image making

From April 8 all members can submit two images to the new ‘Image Critique’ category to get feedback in a non-competitive environment. Read more here

Ruth Woodrow is happy to do portraits at club meetings.

This will help new members to recognise people with similar interests who are willing to share their knowledge, their information, and their friendship.

M-Squared Collaboration

‘M Squared’ is the first collaboration between Malahide Camera Club (Ireland) and Melbourne Camera Club. MCC members are invited to submit images to illustrate our respective city’s uniqueness, eg there are no skyscrapers in Dublin and they are plentiful in Melbourne. The Showcase Event will be held on Sunday 16 May 7pm Melbourne time, via Zoom.

Upload your images through the PDI competition system by 30 April. Further details here.

The most recent Introduction to Photography course has just finished and we’d like to take this opportunity to welcome the 30-plus participants to the club as full members!

During the third workshop of the course the participants get to wander around the University of Melbourne with a brief to photograph the architecture, featuring the old and the new – or in fact, anything that grabs their attention – using the lessons on camera controls and composition learned during the course. From the levels of attendance and participation – even on a wet and dreary Sunday for the third workshop – we can happily say that this course was a great success!

Nature Photography Exhibition

The Melbourne Camera Club is pleased to announce it will be holding its second nature photography exhibition in May this year. The exhibition will showcase the best of our members’ nature work along with works from some special invited guests.
