Abandoned

Greg Branson

A photo essay inspired by the abandoned homes and sheds that litter the Australian landscape.

Here we get a chance to ponder the people who lived and worked in these buildings.

There is poetry, tragedy and beauty in abandoned farmhouses and outbuildings. From crumbling humble homesteads to forgotten sheds, Australia has abandoned buildings littered from coast to coast. Most have been left to the ravages of nature and are nothing more than a collection of ruins. They are often a pile of corrugated iron and timber. These images are hand printed and toned on silver bromide paper from film shot by Greg Branson.

Biography
Greg trained as traditional analogue photographer in the RAAF. This led to working at Curtin University and then teaching photography in the RMIT graphic design course. Greg believes analogue photography takes time. He likes photographs that tell a story. Greg is the analogue photography group coordinator at the Melbourne Camera Club.
