An excellent chance to practice portrait photography skills\, learn about studio lighting and grow your portfolio. \nThe meeting is a practical photography session. We use flash lighting in a studio setting. We will have 2 sets operating and 2-3 models\, so there will be ample opportunity to shoot. \nOpen to all MCC members (and visitors may attend up to 2 sessions). \nIf you want to shoot\, please bring: \n\nyour camera (with a standard hot shoe on top for the flash trigger)\n$10 for a shooters licence.\n\nPlease come along at 7pm to help set up. SUMMARY:Digital Editing Group
DESCRIPTION:As the level of understanding of digital editing techniques varies enormously among members\, we will aim to provide information to members at basic\, intermediate and advanced levels in each meeting. \nThe focus is not on how to capture an image\, but on what can be done with it in post-processing after downloading the images to your computer. Topics such as adjusting exposure and saturation\, compositing\, HDR and special effects will be just some of the areas covered. The digital editing techniques discussed will primarily be applicable to Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop\, however these techniques are generally transferable to many other digital editing programs. \nFor the last DEG meeting for the year we are going to look at some start to finish editing using Lightroom\, Photoshop or both. I will also demonstrate how some of my awarded images from 2023 were created.

Damage asserts\, “My practice is located in the landscape of apparatus-based modes of the medium that explore the materiality of photography. I am excited by the idea of pushing constraints held within the frame to challenge the photographic index – and its purpose as a tool for realistic representation. Even more thrilling is that alternative modes of analogue photography allow me to embrace the photograph as an object\, presenting a level of creative freedom and self-expression that\, until recently\, I did not think possible.”
