DESCRIPTION:For October\, our guest speaker will be Sandra Dann. Sandra was recently one of our competition judges in August and provided many insightful comments. \nSandra will be talking about colour theory\, and how to use the tools in Photoshop to implement colour theory in your images. \n  \nDigital Editing group meets on the Third Monday of the month from February to November.  The aim of the group is to help the members of the group to improve our ability to edit images digitally regardless of the end requirement – be it for Print Comp\, PDI Comp\, AV\, slideshows\, books or any other use. \nMost meetings with be broken into topics suitable for beginners\, intermediate or advanced users. \nThere is a range of software available but our focus will be on Adobe Lightroom Classic and Photoshop. \nWe also happy to look at processing issues you might have – email your image to digital.editing@melbournecameraclub.org.au a few days before an upcoming meeting. \n

DESCRIPTION:Analog Iran \nIn 2019\, Ali MC spent four weeks travelling through Iran with a 35mm film camera. His aim was to document everyday life on black and white film. The result is Analog Iran\, an online exhibition which explores the diversity of a country that is often stereotyped in the media. From the border of Afghanistan to the bustling metropolis of Tehran\, these photographs bring to life the everyday lives of Iranian people. Ali’s travels to Iran coincided with an increase in sanctions and threat of war with the United States and an acute rise in living costs for Iranian people. Yet despite these pressures\, Iranian people remained extraordinarily generous. Using a fixed-lens manual camera\, Ali’s work shows the tension between the hospitality and graciousness of the Iranian people\, and the constant political and economic pressures of daily life. \nAbout Ali MC \nA former touring musician and producer\, Ali MC (Alister McKeich) is a photographer\, writer and lecturer in law and criminology. Along with traditional photojournalism\, Ali also travels internationally to conduct projects based on social issues\, politics and culture\, and is the author of the full length travel book The Eyeball End. Recent projects include work with Rohingya refugees\, Khasi stone labourers in India\, marginalised groups in East Timor and street photography in Iran. Working predominantly in analogue film\, Ali’s work is also grounded in research and academic study\, holding a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in History and a Masters in Human Rights Law. \n \nImage courtesy of Ali MC

DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to have Scott Portelli to open the Melbourne Camera Club’s second Nature Photography Exhibition which will be open to the public the following two weekends. \nScott Portelli is an international award winning wildlife\, nature and underwater photographer and film maker. A member of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) and Accredited Professional Video Producer (APVP)\, he is regarded as a leading professional in his field. Scott has spent thousands of hours in remote locations across the globe filming and photographing wildlife\, the underwater environment\, and wild places with a focus on conservation and education. \nHe was awarded at the prestigious BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year in London in 2016 and announced National winner of the Sony World Photography awards 2016 and winner at Travel Photographer of the Year 2015. More recently he was awarded winner in the Animal Behaviour Category at the Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year ANZANG 2017 and again in 2019. Awarded at the Sienna International Photography Awards 2017 and again in 2019 and Winner in the Underwater Category of the Asferico International Nature Photography awards 2018. DESCRIPTION:For October\, our guest speaker will be Sandra Dann. Sandra was recently one of our competition judges in August and provided many insightful comments. \nSandra will be talking about colour theory\, and how to use the tools in Photoshop to implement colour theory in your images. \n  \nDigital Editing group meets on the Third Monday of the month from February to November.  The aim of the group is to help the members of the group to improve our ability to edit images digitally regardless of the end requirement – be it for Print Comp\, PDI Comp\, AV\, slideshows\, books or any other use. \nMost meetings with be broken into topics suitable for beginners\, intermediate or advanced users. \nThere is a range of software available but our focus will be on Adobe Lightroom Classic and Photoshop. \nWe also happy to look at processing issues you might have – email your image to digital.editing@melbournecameraclub.org.au a few days before an upcoming meeting. \n
