SUMMARY:Conceptual Photography SIG
DESCRIPTION:Check our homepage for the annual plan for 2025\, \nand the link to all past presentations. \n  \nApril CPSIG Meeting \nDate: Wednesday\, 16 April \nTime: 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM \nPlace: MCC Clubrooms \nMore hands-on workshopping! \nBring along 12 or so prints – postcard size will be fine (6″x 4″ = 15 cm x 10 cm).  Officeworks prints them for pennies each. \nCome along prepared to sequence them into a coherent narrative\, under the guidance of garrie maguire.   This will be good preparation for sequencing your body of work for the exhibition.  If you are ready\, you can bring images that you plan to include in your exhibition entry. \nTime permitting\, there will also be a presentation—more information to follow. \nThe link to read the Conceptual Group presentations was in the last MCC Newsletter.  I will also include it in the Conceptual Group Mailout. \nCheers \nBob Warfield\, Andrew Tan\, garrie maguire\, Wayne Harridge\, Robin Tully\, \nCoordinators of CPSIG

SUMMARY:Digital Editing Group
DESCRIPTION:As the level of understanding of digital editing techniques varies enormously among members\, we will aim to provide information to members at basic\, intermediate and advanced levels in each meeting. \nThe focus is not on how to capture an image\, but on what can be done with it in post-processing after downloading the images to your computer. Topics such as adjusting exposure and saturation\, compositing\, HDR and special effects will be just some of the areas covered. The digital editing techniques discussed will primarily be applicable to Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop\, however these techniques are generally transferable to many other digital editing programs. \n  \nThe topics for discussion this month will mostly relate to the updates to Lightroom\, Lightroom Classic\, Photoshop and Camera Raw that were released at the end of April. \nLightroom\, Lightroom Classic and Camera Raw all had major updates to AI masking. For some time we have had People masking tools\, now we have Landscape masking tools. \nThe difference in functionality between Camera Raw and the Lightroom versions is increasing. DeNoise\, Super Resolution and Enhance details in Camera Raw no longer need to produce a new DNG file. Additionally Camera Raw has implemented the remove distracting people feature previously only in Photoshop. \nOn the flip side\, Photoshop has significantly upgraded the select object tool to bring AI masking previously only available in Camera Raw into the Photoshop Workflow. Additionally changes have been made to Hue/Saturation Adjustments. \nIf time permits\, we have some quick start to finish editing videos.

SUMMARY:Nature Outing
DESCRIPTION:Sanatorium Lake Macedon Ranges \nThe May outing of the nature group will be to the Sanatorium Lake in the Macedon Ranges. We are looking forward to the opportunity to photograph a wide variety of fungi species. There was a successful outing there last year in the cooler months and we decided it was definitely worth further investigation. \nThe different vegetation types will also provide birds and insects\, and the lake has the potential for beautiful reflections. Remember to bring chair and sturdy boots and shoes as the area can be quite muddy. \nWe will meet at 10am at Lions Head Rd\, Sanatorium Lake\, Hesket \n  \n  \nhttps://maps.app.goo.gl/wGy4HiLTDYjZvNKy7

SUMMARY:Special Guest Presenter - "Foto Creative" Louise Sedgman
DESCRIPTION:The Foto Creative \n \nA little about Louise from here website. \nPhotography has been my daily joy and passion for almost 30 years along with my deep love of horses. I crave knowledge and have spent years learning\, evolving and mastering my craft\, and while I continue to do so\, I love nothing more than sharing my knowledge with other photographers learning theirs. \nFor me\, photography is so much more than just taking a photo. It’s about embracing a moment and creating imagery with depth\, feeling and heart. Photography is a never-ending journey that has no bounds\, with opportunities that can change someone’s life. It’s powerful\, not just for the viewer\, but for the image creator as well. \nIf you’ve ever stood quietly in a place and immersed yourself in the sights\, sounds\, smells and visual feast surrounding you\, and spent time capturing that\, you know exactly what I mean. And if you haven’t\, let me take you by the hand and show you…It’s glorious and you’ll never see the world around you the same again. \nMark it in your diary as not to be missed. \n
