SUMMARY:Nature Outing to Mount Macedon
DESCRIPTION:The April nature outing is to Sanatorium Lake\, Macedon Regional Park\, Mount Macedon. \nThe visit will involve an easy walk in the bush. Please don’t expect much from the lake as it is a very small body of water. The attraction is the beautiful bush\, hopefully some fungi and possibly some wildlife. \nMeeting time is 10am at the start of the walk to the lake. \nFrom the Calder Highway take the C322 exit to Mount Macedon. At the roundabout\, take the second exit onto Mt Macedon Road toward Mount Macedon. Continue up the mountain passing through the Mount Macedon village and keep going to the top of the road. Turn right at Lions Head Road. Soon after entering Lions Head Road there is a fork. Take the left fork which is the continuation of Lions Head Road. Continue on the gravel road past the first picnic grounds until you come to Lions Head Road Car Park and entrance to Sanatorium Lake walk. Coordinates are: \n-37.376720\,144.614210 \nBYO hat\, sunscreen and insect repellent along with chair and lunch if planning to stay on. Plastic pants or something to lie on recommended as fungi are usually in awkward spots. Good walking shoes also recommended as it could be a bit slippery\, particularly if we get some rain. \n
