SUMMARY:Club Night: Guest Speaker – Carly Michael – Clubrooms & Hybrid Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Photos. \nAn overview of the world of photos looking at where we have come from and where we are going from the perspective of a photo manager. \n \nIn March 2020\, Carly Michael founded PhotoGenie. Carly  was the fifth generation family member to manage michaels camera video & digital\, the 100-year-old iconic camera store in Melbourne’s CBD. Over almost 18 years she worked in and managed the photo lab of the family business which specialised in digitising\, restoring & preserving family photos. \nCarly had always been concerned that when providing archiving services her lab was simply transferring the physical mess into a digital mess. In 2017 she discovered that Photo Management was an emerging industry providing a system to organise photos and finally providing a solution for this problem. \nPlease join us in person at the Clubrooms or on Zoom for this event. \nZoom details will be emailed to members a couple of days before the event. \n

SUMMARY:Photowalk Community – Exhibition & Lightscape Trail
DESCRIPTION:We welcome MCC members and friends to this weekend’s photowalk. \nFor this month’s outing we are keeping it local – starting with a private viewing of Men with Heart exhibition at the MCC Clubrooms\, followed by an evening at Lightscape at the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne. \nMen with Heart Exhibition has been on display at the MCC Clubrooms over the past month\, final day is Sunday 3 July. \n\nThe exhibition was photographed by Paul Hoelen and brought to life by Tasmen through a Tasmanian Community Arts Grant and has travelled to four locations throughout Tasmania since October 2018 with over 8000 visitors. The feedback from the exhibitions so far has been incredible. Both from demand and invitation\, the project is now expanding to travel nationally to support regional men’s work happening around Australia and provide inspiration\, hope and deeper conversation about what the definition of healthy masculinity can be in our society today.\n\nLightscape at the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne \n\nFor the very first time\, an immersive\, after-dark experience comes to Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne this winter. Iconic tree canopies will be drenched in colour\, vibrant bursts of light will tumble from the undergrowth and run up trees like fizzing fireworks.\nExplore playful beams of light\, walk through glowing tunnels and linger at waterside reflections. It’s an illuminating winter walk in a unique natural wonderland that you won’t want to miss.\n\nTickets: \n\nImportant: Buy your ticket in advance for the 5.30pm session\, tickets may sell out fast. SUMMARY:Photography Exhibition: ‘Men with Heart’
DESCRIPTION:Members and friends of MCC are invited to visit the ‘Men with Heart’ exhibition which is being held at the Clubrooms from 12 June to 3 July. \n‘A powerful and moving\, multi-award winning exhibition shot over two decades exploring what defines healthy masculinity in Australian culture today’ \n“In a time when much of the world’s media is choosing to focus on the darker side of what men are capable of this project provides a refreshing\, welcome and important counterbalance by portraying the open-heartedness\, courage\, and vulnerability of men coming together to face their issues and work on becoming better men – better fathers\, brothers\, partners and sons. \nShot in complete confidentiality over almost two decades\, this documentary exhibition presents a deeply unique body of work in both its intimacy and scope intended to both challenge and explore what defines healthy masculinity in Australian culture today. \nThe powerful curation of printed imagery is accompanied by written stories and poems from the men within them\, as well as in-depth video interviews from attendees of the Tasmanian Men’s Gathering sharing their heartfelt experiences. \nViewers are encouraged to interact with the images and share their thoughts\, feelings and responses by writing them down on the provided cards and hanging them next to the images themselves\, as well as contributing their thoughts to the expansive visitor’s book. These are being collated for a future book project.  \nWith each exhibition there’ll be an opportunity to experience an interactive and experiential ‘Heart Circle’ – where attendees will get to experience a safe and open space to share and express their authentic thoughts and feelings in response to the exhibition\, led by a trained facilitator. \nThe exhibition has won multiple awards for its impact on the health and well-being of both men and boys in Australia and is set to travel around Australia to support empowering conversation about healthy masculinity and men’s work.” \n‘Men with Heart’ Exhibition Dates \nWhen: June 12 – July 3 \nWhere: Melbourne Camera Club: 254 Ferrars St\, South Melbourne \n\nSunday June 12 – Official Opening 2pm (open 10.30am-5pm)\nSunday June 12 – Experiential Heart Circle 5-7pm\nMonday June 13 – Artist Talk 1.30pm-3pm (open 10.30am-4pm)\nOpen weekends: June 18-19\, 25-26 and July 2-3 (open 10.30am-3pm)

SUMMARY:PDI Competition - Zoom Only
DESCRIPTION:Club Competitions \nPDI Upload \nSet Subjects \n\n \n\nChange to Competition Entry Submission Date starting July 2022\nThe submission date for the electronic versions of both Print and PDI entries are to be changed to the Wednesday night before the Print Competition\, at 11:59pm. \nThis will allow the stewards time to identify potential duplicate images prior to the Print Competition night and prior to images being sent to the judge for PDI. \nIf a member puts up a print image that has not been submitted electronically the night before\, then it will be moved to the Image Critique section. \nWe believe this will make the competitions fairer for all entrants. \nCompetition Committee
