SUMMARY:Digital Editing Group
DESCRIPTION:As the level of understanding of digital editing techniques varies enormously among members\, we will aim to provide information to members at basic\, intermediate and advanced levels in each meeting. \nThe focus is not on how to capture an image\, but on what can be done with it in post-processing after downloading the images to your computer. Topics such as adjusting exposure and saturation\, compositing\, HDR and special effects will be just some of the areas covered. The digital editing techniques discussed will primarily be applicable to Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop\, however these techniques are generally transferable to many other digital editing programs. \nWell the guys over at Adobe must have been enjoying their summer break because for a change there are no new features to report on. \nThat gives us an opportunity to revisit some of the basics in Lightroom and Photoshop. We will look at workflows that will help us edit new images\, and also how new tools can breathe life into some older images. \nIn Photoshop\, we will start with the basics – layers. This is the fundamental difference between PS and Lightroom. We will then go onto look at some ideas for portrait retouching. Finally\, it time permits\, we will have a look at how NIK can be used for colour grading.

SUMMARY:Presentation by the Analogue Photography SIG
DESCRIPTION:One of the great benefits of being a member of the Melbourne Camera Club is the diverse groups of people and the Special Interest Groups that are open to everyone to participate in. This year the SIGS will be bringing their world into ours on a Thursday evening and these nights are not to be missed. Tonight\, we welcome the Analogue Photography Group\, and you are in for a very different experience from the digital world we are all used too. Since this year\, film photography has become more and more popular with sales of film and secondhand cameras going through the roof. Younger people are attracted to the mechanics and science and the passion becomes very addictive. Don’t miss this very interesting group of members bring the past to life.

SUMMARY:Nature Group Outing
DESCRIPTION:Banyule Flats Reserve \nThis month we’ll explore Banyule Flats Reserve\, a rich mix of wetlands\, riverine forest and open grassland along the Yarra. \nThe area is one of Melbourne’s most rewarding spots for nature photography\, with more than 150 bird species recorded from Ducks\, Spoonbills and Rails on the water to Fairy-wrens\, Rosellas and Pardalotes in the woodland. \nLate September is also a fantastic time for macro photography\, with spring wildflowers beginning to bloom and plenty of insects and other small details to capture. \nBring along a telephoto lens for birds or a macro lens for close-ups\, as well as sturdy shoes for uneven tracks. We’ll break for a relaxed picnic lunch together\, so remember to pack food\, water\, and a chair to sit on. \n  \nhttps://maps.app.goo.gl/XwFhE6EC6tEd6B9b9 \n  \n

\nThis month we will be looking at a variety of Lightroom/Camera Raw processing that will help your images stand out. We will also consider when that processing has gone too far. For Photoshop users doing portrait retouching\, we have a couple of short videos on removing dark eye circles and removing reflections from glasses.
