DESCRIPTION:As the level of understanding of digital editing techniques varies enormously among members\, we will aim to provide information to members at basic\, intermediate and advanced levels in each meeting. \nThe focus is not on how to capture an image\, but on what can be done with it in post-processing after downloading the images to your computer. Topics such as adjusting exposure and saturation\, compositing\, HDR and special effects will be just some of the areas covered. The digital editing techniques discussed will primarily be applicable to Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop\, however these techniques are generally transferable to many other digital editing programs. \nThe first meeting of the Digital Editing Group for 2026 will be on Monday 16 February. \nWe will be going back to basics in Lightroom so it will be ideal for any new members looking to start to understand the fundamentals of processing raw images. \nFor those interested in Photoshop\, we will have a look at some new features introduced in version 27.3\, along with layer blending modes and a quick look at how to remove bags from under the eyes of your subjects. If time permits\, we will finish up with a start to end editing process.

DESCRIPTION:NATURE OUTING – Sunday 22nd February – 9:00am – 2:00pm \n\n\nOur first outing for the year will be to the Jawbone Marine Sanctuary in Williamstown. This will be an opportunity to photograph a range of coastal birds. Jawbone contains examples of all of the marine habitats of northern Port Phillip Bay including mangroves and rockpools. \n**Please note the earlier start time due to the potential for a warm to hot day\, and the increased likelihood of seeing birds and insects moving around earlier in the morning. \nIf 9:00am is too early for you\, please feel free to join us at 10:00am. Message us on WhatsApp when you get there\, and we will let you know where we are. \n\nLunch will be at the nearby Williamstown Botanical Gardens where we will be provided with shade and some insects for macro photography. DESCRIPTION:This month we will meet at the Newport Railway Museum.  Please contact Peter Tredrea for enquiries.\n  \nThe Museum is easy to get to: \nLocated at 26 Champion Rd Newport\, only a few minutes from the Melbourne Road exit of the Westgate Freeway. \nAdmission prices are as follows:\n \n\nAdults: $10\nChildren or concession holders: $5\nChildren under 4 years of age: free of charge\nFamily ticket (2 adults\, 2 children): $25\n\nOpen each Saturday from 12 noon to 5 pm. Pre-booking on their WEB site is available. \nThis is a good location for potentially hot weather. Suggest bringing food and drink\, station facilities are limited.  Also suggest this is tripod territory. New undercover sheds can be on the dull side but good under all weather conditions.

SUMMARY:Portrait Group
DESCRIPTION:This is the monthly meeting of the Portrait Group – first Monday of each month. An excellent chance to practice portrait photography skills\, learn about studio lighting and grow your portfolio. \nThe meeting is a practical photography session. We use flash lighting in a studio setting. We will have 2 sets operating and 2-3 models\, so there will be ample opportunity to shoot. \nOpen to all MCC members (and visitors may attend up to 2 sessions). \nIf you want to shoot\, please bring: \n\nyour camera (with a standard hot shoe on top for the flash trigger)\n$10 for a shooters licence.\n\nPlease come along at 7pm to help set up. We start shooting at 8pm\, and stop when the models say they’ve had enough (typically 2-3 hours). \nPlease remember that after the shoot you are required to send some photos back for the models.
