DESCRIPTION:Presentation: Fine Art Architecture Photography \nSteve Day is a Melbourne based self-taught fine art photographer who is recognised for his striking\nblack and white architectural photography. \nRecently\, Steve was awarded Australian Photography Magazine Black and White Photographer of the\nYear 2022. The judging panel described him as demonstrating a wonderful understanding of shape\,\nform and texture\, along with a keen eye for concealing and revealing details. \nSteve expertly applies tone and shade to illustrate the buildings in the right places to create maximum\nimpact and alleviate any distractions. He also uses long exposure techniques to conceive his vision of\nmoody and minimalist images that emphasise the form and structure whilst highlighting the features of\narchitecture and cityscapes. His images depict isolation and a sense of solitude and perhaps suggest a\nyearning for the inner self to be alone and at peace. \nSteve’s photography has gained numerous major international awards that include the MonoVisions\nPhotography Awards\, ND Awards\, Prix de la Photographie Paris\, Visions International Photo Awards\,\nand the Centre for Contemporary Photography Salon Melbourne. \nSteve’s work has been published in the B&W Minimalism Magazine\, Chiiz Magazine\, Long Exposure\nMagazine\, and Eye Photo Magazine. Furthermore\, his work has been exhibited in Melbourne\,\nHyderabad\, New York\, Athens\, and Paris. \nSteve is also represented by influx Gallery Notting Hill\, UK\, Artoui in Munich Germany and bluethumb.\nJoin Steve as he demonstrates his workflow process and learn how he creates his award-winning\narchitectural images\, that he is so passionate about.

DESCRIPTION:As the level of understanding of digital editing techniques varies enormously among members\, we will aim to provide information to members at basic\, intermediate and advanced levels in each meeting. \nThe focus is not on how to capture an image\, but on what can be done with it in post-processing after downloading the images to your computer. Topics such as adjusting exposure and saturation\, compositing\, HDR and special effects will be just some of the areas covered. The digital editing techniques discussed will primarily be applicable to Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop\, however these techniques are generally transferable to many other digital editing programmes. \nTopics for the nights’ discussions are: \nWhat’s new in Lightroom and Photoshop including a detailed look at the new Denoise feature; \nTransforming autumn colours in Photoshop; \nand stitching drone images with PTGui and Photoshop/Lightroom.

DESCRIPTION:Tracey McIrvine \nVisual Arts Manager – Gasworks Arts Park Inc. \nTracey will address the overall theme ”how photography as an artistic medium fits into the artwork now” and about her journey as an Arts Manager.  For over 20 years Tracey has focused on three major goals in the arts\, with the majority of this time focussed on artists and groups in the City of Port Phillip.  Tracey’s first goal was to develop the community profile of a large\, commercial art gallery while managing the business to achieve creative and financial goals for all concerned.   The second is to continually impart crucial professional development skills and ‘The Mechanics of Realism’ to arts practitioners.   The third goal is to assiduously communicate the benefits of engaging with the arts to the community at large. \nTracy said that she likes to think that (based on feedback!) she is well regarded for the depth of practical knowledge that she shares in a direct\, warm and humorous style.

DESCRIPTION:This is the monthly meeting of the Portrait Group – first Monday of each month. An excellent chance to practice portrait photography skills\, learn about studio lighting and grow your portfolio. \nThe meeting is a practical photography session. We use flash lighting in a studio setting. We will have 2 sets operating and 2-3 models\, so there will be ample opportunity to shoot. \nOpen to all MCC members (and visitors may attend up to 2 sessions). \nIf you want to shoot\, please bring: \n\nyour camera (with a standard hot shoe on top for the flash trigger)\n$10 for a shooters licence.\n\nPlease come along at 7pm to help set up. We start shooting at 8pm\, and stop when the models say they’ve had enough (typically 2-3 hours). \nPlease remember that after the shoot you are required to send some photos back for the models. SUMMARY:Digital Editing Group
DESCRIPTION:As the level of understanding of digital editing techniques varies enormously among members\, we will aim to provide information to members at basic\, intermediate and advanced levels in each meeting. \nThe focus is not on how to capture an image\, but on what can be done with it in post-processing after downloading the images to your computer. Topics such as adjusting exposure and saturation\, compositing\, HDR and special effects will be just some of the areas covered. The digital editing techniques discussed will primarily be applicable to Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop\, however these techniques are generally transferable to many other digital editing programmes. \nThis month\, Ian Bock will be demonstrating how he digitizes slides and processes the subsequent images.
