DESCRIPTION:This is the monthly meeting of the Portrait Group – first Monday of each month. An excellent chance to practice portrait photography skills\, learn about studio lighting and grow your portfolio. \nThe meeting is a practical photography session. We use flash lighting in a studio setting. We will have 2 sets operating and 2-3 models\, so there will be ample opportunity to shoot. \nOpen to all MCC members (and visitors may attend up to 2 sessions). \nIf you want to shoot\, please bring: \n\nyour camera (with a standard hot shoe on top for the flash trigger)\n$10 for a shooters licence.\n\nPlease come along at 7pm to help set up. We start shooting at 8pm\, and stop when the models say they’ve had enough (typically 2-3 hours). \nPlease remember that after the shoot you are required to send some photos back for the models. DESCRIPTION:Adrian Whear is no stranger to our club and everything photographic in Melbourne. His name is synonymous with “Street” “Travel” and especially his masterful understanding of Black and White photography. \nWe are extremely lucky to welcome Adrian to our club and experience his ever-evolving body of work and his travels. \nHere is a little something from Adrians’s website: – \nI am not a street photographer that has studied the works of the renown pioneers of the genre\, nor have I completed a photography qualification. Simply I am mostly a self-taught amateur photographer. Photography was a natural extension of my love of travel. The journey probably started during a trip to Ethiopia and Morocco. I captured a couple of images that drove me to explore photography as something more than a means of taking record pictures. Upon returning home I started to make the effort to go out and walk the streets and alleys of my hometown Melbourne and its inner suburbs\, and in the process\, I started to discover my home cities true soul. From there I just photographed whatever captured my attention\, slowly forming an understanding\, vision and style for my photography. \nA not to be missed experience.

SUMMARY:Digital Editing Group
DESCRIPTION:As the level of understanding of digital editing techniques varies enormously among members\, we will aim to provide information to members at basic\, intermediate and advanced levels in each meeting. \nThe focus is not on how to capture an image\, but on what can be done with it in post-processing after downloading the images to your computer. Topics such as adjusting exposure and saturation\, compositing\, HDR and special effects will be just some of the areas covered. The digital editing techniques discussed will primarily be applicable to Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop\, however these techniques are generally transferable to many other digital editing programs. \nThis month we will have a look at some Lightroom start to finish editing which of course can be also done in Photoshop’s Camera Raw. \nEver spent a lot of time removing dust spots\, well now it can be done automatically. Adobe very recently released an update to Camera Raw which automates this tedious job. At the moment it is only available in ACR\, but will probably make it’s way into Lightroom soon. \nAnother new feature that is currently only in Photoshop Beta is the Harmonize tool\, something that is going to make compositing so much easier.

These observations influence her works. \nAs a young adult Kay took up photography\, singing\, and painting. A 30-year career as a professional singer-songwriter ensued.​ In her spare time she completed courses in photography\, professional writing and editing\, and interior design. \nWith a passion for colour psychology and metaphysics\, Kay is also extensively practiced in the art of healing modalities and meditation. \n​Combining an artistic eye with mindfulness and her love of nature and humanness\, Kay reminds us to see beauty in the detail\, find gratitude in the ordinary\, and feel the rhythm of life in the everyday. \n\n​ \n“In a very focused way (pun intended) I’ve learnt so much about living in the moment\, being in awe of the tiniest details\, slowing down\, and falling in love with the world over and over again through the lens of my camera. This beautiful site offers a wealth of photographic opportunities\, including iconic Australian flora such as grass trees\, flowering eucalypts\, and Banksias\, along with a variety of native birds like honeyeaters\, wrens\, and parrots. \nIf it a sunny day and so close to Spring\, there are also excellent chance for macro photography\, with native bees\, dragonflies\, and other insects often active in the garden’s warm\, sheltered spots. \nPlease remember to bring comfortable walking shoes and a chair for lunch. DESCRIPTION:This is the monthly meeting of the Portrait Group – first Monday of each month. An excellent chance to practice portrait photography skills\, learn about studio lighting and grow your portfolio. \nThe meeting is a practical photography session. We use flash lighting in a studio setting. We will have 2 sets operating and 2-3 models\, so there will be ample opportunity to shoot. \nOpen to all MCC members (and visitors may attend up to 2 sessions). \nIf you want to shoot\, please bring: \n\nyour camera (with a standard hot shoe on top for the flash trigger)\n$10 for a shooters licence.\n\nPlease come along at 7pm to help set up. We start shooting at 8pm\, and stop when the models say they’ve had enough (typically 2-3 hours). \nPlease remember that after the shoot you are required to send some photos back for the models.
