DESCRIPTION:This is the monthly meeting of the Portrait Group – first Monday of each month. An excellent chance to practice portrait photography skills\, learn about studio lighting and grow your portfolio. \nThe meeting is a practical photography session. We use flash lighting in a studio setting. We will have 2 sets operating and 2-3 models\, so there will be ample opportunity to shoot. \nOpen to all MCC members (and visitors may attend up to 2 sessions). \nIf you want to shoot\, please bring: \n\nyour camera (with a standard hot shoe on top for the flash trigger)\n$10 for a shooters licence.\n\nPlease come along at 7pm to help set up. We start shooting at 8pm\, and stop when the models say they’ve had enough (typically 2-3 hours). \nPlease remember that after the shoot you are required to send some photos back for the models. DESCRIPTION:Astro Landscape Photography Workshop – 13th  June 2026 \n  \nWe’re excited to offer members a rare opportunity to take part in a hands-on Astro Landscape Photography Workshop led by Levin Barrett. \nThis is a full afternoon and night experience\, beginning with formal training from 1.30 – 5pm at the Tooborac Brewery with an early dinner (theory\, composition\, camera settings\, star trails\, Milky Way shooting and post-processing)\, followed by an on-location night shoot near Tooborac. You’ll put everything into practice under real night-sky conditions\, from star trails through to Milky Way core photography in the early hours. \nThis workshop is ideal for photographers with a moderate level of experience who are comfortable with manual camera control and want to step into astro photography in a supportive\, small-group environment. Numbers are limited to 10 participants to ensure plenty of individual guidance. \nThe session is weather-dependent\, with flexibility built in to maximise our chances of clear skies. Even if conditions prevent the night shoot\, the afternoon training alone is extremely valuable. \nIf you’ve ever wanted to photograph the night sky properly — this is your chance. \nSpots are limited.

SUMMARY:Digital Editing Group
DESCRIPTION:As the level of understanding of digital editing techniques varies enormously among members\, we will aim to provide information to members at basic\, intermediate and advanced levels in each meeting. \nThe focus is not on how to capture an image\, but on what can be done with it in post-processing after downloading the images to your computer. Topics such as adjusting exposure and saturation\, compositing\, HDR and special effects will be just some of the areas covered. The digital editing techniques discussed will primarily be applicable to Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop\, however these techniques are generally transferable to many other digital editing programs. \nMore detail of the topics to be discussed will be announced in the weeks before the meeting.

DESCRIPTION:As the level of understanding of digital editing techniques varies enormously among members\, we will aim to provide information to members at basic\, intermediate and advanced levels in each meeting. \nThe focus is not on how to capture an image\, but on what can be done with it in post-processing after downloading the images to your computer. Topics such as adjusting exposure and saturation\, compositing\, HDR and special effects will be just some of the areas covered. The digital editing techniques discussed will primarily be applicable to Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop\, however these techniques are generally transferable to many other digital editing programs. \nMore detail of the topics to be discussed will be announced in the weeks before the meeting.

DESCRIPTION:Book your place on the Salt Printing Workshop coming up in July: The One Day Salt Printing Workshops will take place on the Weekend of July 25th and 26th. Three participants will attend on each day and will learn the basic chemistry involved\, how to prepare the solutions\, make the sensitised paper\, expose and process their prints.They will also be supplied with chemicals to take home.
