An excellent chance to practice portrait photography skills\, learn about studio lighting and grow your portfolio. \nThe meeting is a practical photography session. We use flash lighting in a studio setting. We will have 2 sets operating and 2-3 models\, so there will be ample opportunity to shoot. \nOpen to all MCC members (and visitors may attend up to 2 sessions). \nIf you want to shoot\, please bring: \n\nyour camera (with a standard hot shoe on top for the flash trigger)\n$10 for a shooters licence.\n\nPlease come along at 7pm to help set up. DESCRIPTION:As the level of understanding of digital editing techniques varies enormously among members\, we will aim to provide information to members at basic\, intermediate and advanced levels in each meeting. \nThe focus is not on how to capture an image\, but on what can be done with it in post-processing after downloading the images to your computer. Topics such as adjusting exposure and saturation\, compositing\, HDR and special effects will be just some of the areas covered. The digital editing techniques discussed will primarily be applicable to Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop\, however these techniques are generally transferable to many other digital editing programs. \nThis month we are going to look at how to make your images pop by using selective editing. To do this we need to understand the fundamentals of masking in Lightroom and ACR. From there we will move onto fixing mistakes in Photoshop and have a look at the how you can master the curves tool. Finally if time permits\, we will have a look at a start to finish edit.

DESCRIPTION:Masa Hoss did not set out to find an art practice\, instead it found her. \nIt was while pausing a flourishing business career to have children\, Masa picked up a camera and thought to wonder\, “How does one visualise the feeling of a moment?”  \nWith this question in mind Masa turned her attention to creative photography\, studying with the New York Institute of Photography in 2016 subsequently taking on an ever growing variety of commissions. \nA unique mix of creative vision and visual precision distinguishes her work\, influenced by a career as a strategist and an academic background in engineering. \nHer work is informed by a passionate thirst for enquiry and an aesthetic awareness gathered from the cultural influences of Iran\, New Zealand\, Japan and Australia\, concentrating on brand\, portrait and art photography\, and her practice of sumi ink painting. \nMasa’s minimalist visualisations transport us with reverence\, humour and gratitude to a realm of contemplation\, a moment of calm to breathe and focus. It invites us to pay compassionate attention\, to feel our connection and belonging to this world

For more than 20 years\, he has been a judge at Camera Club’s\, where he enjoys guiding photographers in developing their creative vision and ‘eye’. \nAs the Photographic Manager and Senior Photographer at Arthur Reed Photos\, Mark leads a team of over 35 photographers. The company specialises in school\, corporate\, sport and event photography\, with Mark at the forefront of training and overseeing the quality of the work produced. \nMark’s career is as varied as it is accomplished\, having worked as a press photographer and as a still’s photographer on independent films. For him\, photography is more than a profession — it’s a lifelong journey that keeps him curious and inspired\, always seeking to capture the world in new ways and helping other photographers as well.

DESCRIPTION:As the level of understanding of digital editing techniques varies enormously among members\, we will aim to provide information to members at basic\, intermediate and advanced levels in each meeting. \nThe focus is not on how to capture an image\, but on what can be done with it in post-processing after downloading the images to your computer. Topics such as adjusting exposure and saturation\, compositing\, HDR and special effects will be just some of the areas covered. The digital editing techniques discussed will primarily be applicable to Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop\, however these techniques are generally transferable to many other digital editing programs. \nThe topic for the last DEG meeting for 2024 is colour. There are an enormous number of tools in Lightroom and Camera Raw for adjusting colour. In this meeting\, we will try to demystify those colour tools so that you can achieve the results you are looking for. Even if you are going to convert your image to monochrome\, colour is important to ensure you achieve greyscale separation in your image.
