DESCRIPTION:This is the monthly meeting of the Portrait Group – first Monday of each month. An excellent chance to practice portrait photography skills\, learn about studio lighting and grow your portfolio. \nThe meeting is a practical photography session. We use flash lighting in a studio setting. We will have 2 sets operating and 2-3 models\, so there will be ample opportunity to shoot. \nOpen to all MCC members (and visitors may attend up to 2 sessions). \nIf you want to shoot\, please bring: \n\nyour camera (with a standard hot shoe on top for the flash trigger)\n$10 for a shooters licence.\n\nPlease come along at 7pm to help set up. We start shooting at 8pm\, and stop when the models say they’ve had enough (typically 2-3 hours). \nPlease remember that after the shoot you are required to send some photos back for the models. DESCRIPTION:Masa Hoss did not set out to find an art practice\, instead it found her. \nIt was while pausing a flourishing business career to have children\, Masa picked up a camera and thought to wonder\, “How does one visualise the feeling of a moment?”  \nWith this question in mind Masa turned her attention to creative photography\, studying with the New York Institute of Photography in 2016 subsequently taking on an ever growing variety of commissions. \nA unique mix of creative vision and visual precision distinguishes her work\, influenced by a career as a strategist and an academic background in engineering. \nHer work is informed by a passionate thirst for enquiry and an aesthetic awareness gathered from the cultural influences of Iran\, New Zealand\, Japan and Australia\, concentrating on brand\, portrait and art photography\, and her practice of sumi ink painting. \nMasa’s minimalist visualisations transport us with reverence\, humour and gratitude to a realm of contemplation\, a moment of calm to breathe and focus. SUMMARY:Digital Editing Group
DESCRIPTION:As the level of understanding of digital editing techniques varies enormously among members\, we will aim to provide information to members at basic\, intermediate and advanced levels in each meeting. \nThe focus is not on how to capture an image\, but on what can be done with it in post-processing after downloading the images to your computer. Topics such as adjusting exposure and saturation\, compositing\, HDR and special effects will be just some of the areas covered. The digital editing techniques discussed will primarily be applicable to Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop\, however these techniques are generally transferable to many other digital editing programs. \nThe topic for the last DEG meeting for 2024 is colour. There are an enormous number of tools in Lightroom and Camera Raw for adjusting colour. In this meeting\, we will try to demystify those colour tools so that you can achieve the results you are looking for. Even if you are going to convert your image to monochrome\, colour is important to ensure you achieve greyscale separation in your image.

DESCRIPTION:Blonde Robot is an importer and distributor of leading products for the consumer camera and professional content creation markets in over 15 countries throughout Oceania and South East Asia.\nBlonde Robot was born over a few beers when two friends shook hands and decided to start a company – done deal. Over the next few months we learned that a handshake is not actually a contract accepted by the Australian government\, the banking sector\, accountants  and other businesses; in fact no one really took us seriously until we hired a lawyer\, signed a heap of documents and came back under the name “Blonde Robot Pty Ltd“.\n\n\n\n\nWe still pride ourselves on being handshake guys and a third robot director was added in exactly that way. A handshake over a beer. We take this handshake philosophy right through to our customers\, suppliers and basically anyone we do business with. \nFrom humble beginnings in residential Fitzroy\, Blonde Robot has moved twice as we outgrow premises and are now the distributor for the coolest new products from consumer cameras and electronics and the most prestigious brands available for professional video. Our mantra is simple – we sell the cool stuff. \nAlex will be bringing along the absolutely brilliant range of Hobolite compact lighting among other gear.

SUMMARY:Portrait Group
DESCRIPTION:This is the monthly meeting of the Portrait Group – first Monday of each month. An excellent chance to practice portrait photography skills\, learn about studio lighting and grow your portfolio. \nThe meeting is a practical photography session. We use flash lighting in a studio setting. We will have 2 sets operating and 2-3 models\, so there will be ample opportunity to shoot. \nOpen to all MCC members (and visitors may attend up to 2 sessions). \nIf you want to shoot\, please bring: \n\nyour camera (with a standard hot shoe on top for the flash trigger)\n$10 for a shooters licence.\n\nPlease come along at 7pm to help set up. We start shooting at 8pm\, and stop when the models say they’ve had enough (typically 2-3 hours). \nPlease remember that after the shoot you are required to send some photos back for the models.
