SUMMARY:Photography Exhibition: ‘Men with Heart’
DESCRIPTION:Members and friends of MCC are invited to visit the ‘Men with Heart’ exhibition which is being held at the Clubrooms from 12 June to 3 July. \n‘A powerful and moving\, multi-award winning exhibition shot over two decades exploring what defines healthy masculinity in Australian culture today’ \n“In a time when much of the world’s media is choosing to focus on the darker side of what men are capable of this project provides a refreshing\, welcome and important counterbalance by portraying the open-heartedness\, courage\, and vulnerability of men coming together to face their issues and work on becoming better men – better fathers\, brothers\, partners and sons. \nShot in complete confidentiality over almost two decades\, this documentary exhibition presents a deeply unique body of work in both its intimacy and scope intended to both challenge and explore what defines healthy masculinity in Australian culture today. \nThe powerful curation of printed imagery is accompanied by written stories and poems from the men within them\, as well as in-depth video interviews from attendees of the Tasmanian Men’s Gathering sharing their heartfelt experiences. \nViewers are encouraged to interact with the images and share their thoughts\, feelings and responses by writing them down on the provided cards and hanging them next to the images themselves\, as well as contributing their thoughts to the expansive visitor’s book. These are being collated for a future book project.  \nWith each exhibition there’ll be an opportunity to experience an interactive and experiential ‘Heart Circle’ – where attendees will get to experience a safe and open space to share and express their authentic thoughts and feelings in response to the exhibition\, led by a trained facilitator. \nThe exhibition has won multiple awards for its impact on the health and well-being of both men and boys in Australia and is set to travel around Australia to support empowering conversation about healthy masculinity and men’s work.” \n‘Men with Heart’ Exhibition Dates \nWhen: June 12 – July 3 \nWhere: Melbourne Camera Club: 254 Ferrars St\, South Melbourne \n\nSunday June 12 – Official Opening 2pm (open 10.30am-5pm)\nSunday June 12 – Experiential Heart Circle 5-7pm\nMonday June 13 – Artist Talk 1.30pm-3pm (open 10.30am-4pm)\nOpen weekends: June 18-19\, 25-26 and July 2-3 (open 10.30am-3pm)
