SUMMARY:Photowalk Community – Gasworks Park\, neighbourhood and beaches around Port Melbourne
DESCRIPTION:Our September photowalk will be held in Albert Park/Port Melbourne\, with opportunities to photograph the park and gardens at Gasworks Arts Park\, and the beaches and neighbourhoods around Port Melbourne.\n \nGasworks Arts Park is a vibrant arts precinct producing a range of high-quality arts programs\, workshops and activities for all ages. Situated in Albert Park\, Melbourne\, on the site of the former South Melbourne Gas Plant\, Gasworks is 3km from the CBD and the precinct houses four hectares of park\, two theatres\, three gallery spaces\, a café\, as well as function and workshop spaces.\n \nMelbourne Camera Club is partnering with Gasworks Arts Park and City of Port Phillip in the HousingFirst Annual Art Exhibition – as part of the exhibition\, a mobile phone photography workshop will be held at 2pm for HousingFirst participants. Attendees of the Photowalk are welcome to sit-in on the workshop\, or the main group will walk around the Gasworks parkland/gardens area. Once the workshop finishes\, the HousingFirst and Photowalk groups will walk and photograph around the general neighbourhood and beach area for an hour or so. After the HousingFirst attendees are farewelled\, the Photowalk group will continue to Port Melbourne and Princes Pier which will hopefully offer long exposure opportunities and sunset (approx 6pm).\n \nWe will conclude with drinks/dinner at a local pub after sunset.\n \nAll visitors\, friends and members of the Melbourne Camera Club are welcome.\n \nWhat to bring:\n\nTripod for sunset/long exposures\, ND filters\, cable/remote trigger release\nSpare battery as the cold weather and long exposures can drain batteries quickly \nSpare memory card\nWarm clothing\, as the beach area can be exposed to southerly winds\n\n \nDate: Sunday 8 September\nTime: 1.45pm for a 2.00pm start\nMeeting Location: Gasworks Arts Park\, 21 Graham Street\, Albert Park – meet in courtyard area near cafe\nDuration: 4 hours\, plus dinner\nPublic transport: Tram #1 (South Melbourne Beach) from Flinders St Station (via St Kilda Rd)\, 5 minutes walk from stop 31/Graham St & Victoria Ave\nParking: Street parking around Gasworks park\nOptions prior to meeting: coffee and cake at Priscilla Jones Café\, onsite at Gasworks park\n
