Terms & Conditions

‘Instant Melbourne’ – Instax Mini Photo Exhibition 2023

Imagine taking photos of and around Melbourne with an Instant camera. Being able to see the photo straight away and share it. No long hours processing the images on the computer, just your creativity and you get to have your images shown in an exhibition in July. 

Instant Melbourne – the instant photography project by Melbourne Camera Club.

MCC Members are invited to submit an application to participate in Instant Melbourne project.

Entries

    • At least 30 participants required to shoot a film of 20 instant images each, all photos must be submitted as part of your entry
    • Participants to volunteer to be on duty at at least one session during the exhibition weekends
    • Shooting time is 3 weeks then return the equipment and photos to the MCC

Additional Information 

Participants will be lent the following equipment to participate:

    • Instant Camera on loan for 3 weeks
    • Instax Film – 20 images
    • Fine tip marker for numbering on the back of the photos
    • Spreadsheet printout for recording date, photo number, entrant name and photo description  

Cost: free to enter, the equipment has been kindly sponsored by:

    • Des Crossley and Duragraf Pty Ltd have donated 5 Instax Mini 11 Cameras for this project, and 400 Instax Mini Film
    • Fujifilm has donated 11 Instax mini70 cameras and 200 Instax Mini film to MCC 

Exhibition

    • All images are to be submitted for Exhibition
    • The images will be mounted for display by MCC Archives Committee and volunteer participants 
    • Note that photos will not be returned to the photographer, all images will form part of the MCC Archives collection and stored for future exhibitions

    • Entries are open now!!
    • Register here – you are invited to register your interest now to secure a place in this project and exhibition
    • Closing dates:
      • Group 1: Wednesday 10 May, 11.59pm
      • Group 2: Wednesday 31 May, 11.59pm
      • Or once 30 entries are received
    • Entries are open to all MCC Members

Image Submission

    • Return your equipment and all instant images to MCC on the date provided for your Group – either 1 June or 22 June.

Exhibition Opening Event

    • Thursday 20 July 2023 at 7.30pm

Exhibition Dates and Hours

    • Saturday 22 July / Sunday 23 July 2023, 11am-3pm
    • Saturday 29 July / Sunday 30 July 2023, 11am-3pm *Open House Melbourne weekend

All images photographed during this project will be added to the Melbourne Camera Club archive collection after the exhibition closes. 

2. HOW TO ENTER

      • Or once 30 entries are received
    • You are required to accept these terms and conditions, and to confirm you are the owner of the copyright for your works
    • Drop off your loan equipment and images to Melbourne Camera Club on the specified dates – Group 1: 1 June; Group 2: 22 June, 7.30pm 
    • Every endeavour will be made to hang all work submitted, subject to Section 7

3. ENTRIES

    • This is a free exhibition. There is no entry fee
    • Some of the images may be used for promotional purposes and on MCC Facebook and Instagram 
    • We have an all care, no responsibility policy. With such a large number of works to install, although we take all care, we cannot take responsibility for damage made to work submitted to the exhibition

4. DROPPING OFF YOUR IMAGES

    • All loan equipment and images must arrive at the Melbourne Camera Club on the specified dates – Group 1: 1 June; Group 2: 22 June, 7.30pm 
    • Back of the photos to be numbered 
    • Spreadsheet printout for recording date, photo number, entrant name and photo description
    • Photos are not to be mounted, this will be completed in a group workshop, participants encouraged to volunteer to assist. 

5. PRIZE

    • There will be a small prize for a People’s Choice Award for the 2023 Instant Melbourne Exhibition.
    • The Photographer’s work with the most votes will be awarded the winner of the People’s Choice Award.
    • Every person who visits the exhibition is entitled to one vote. Multiple votes per person will not be valid. Only valid votes will be counted.
    • People’s Choice Prize winner and Lucky Voter winner will be announced at the Melbourne Camera Club meeting on Thursday, 3 August 2023 at 8pm, winners will be contacted directly. Results will be published in MCC’s members newsletter, social media and website.

6. FURTHER CONDITIONS

    • This is a curated exhibition, where it is hoped to display all entries, this may not be possible due to space restrictions.
    • The Melbourne Camera Club Exhibition Coordinators reserve the right to make selections for the exhibition that may be determined by available space.
    • All entries will be displayed (subject to space) unless deemed offensive, too fragile, dangerous or not ready for installation.
    • If you are photographing children, you must refer to protocols developed by the Australia Council (australiacouncil.gov.au) before entering your work and adhere to the MCC Ethical Principles of Photography, available on our website.
    • All care will be taken however, the Melbourne Camera Club will not be responsible for any loss or damage caused to the work, howsoever caused.
